Living With Jesus

Day 33 · Week 5

Learn of Me

Passage: Matthew 11:28–30
Memory Verse: Matthew 5:5

Today's Scripture

Matthew 11:29 (KJV)
“Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart...”

The Thought

If we want to know what meekness looks like, Jesus tells us where to look: “learn of me.”

Jesus describes Himself as “meek and lowly in heart.”

Think about the power He possessed. He could calm a storm, heal disease, raise the dead, and command angels. Yet children were comfortable approaching Him. Sinners found hope in His presence. He washed His disciples' feet.

His power was never used to feed His ego.

Even when people insulted Him, Jesus did not need to prove who He was by destroying His enemies. At the cross, people mocked Him and challenged Him to come down. He remained because saving them mattered more than answering their insults.

This is meekness at its deepest: enormous strength governed by love and surrendered to the Father's will.

Jesus does more than give us an example to admire. He invites us to be joined to Him: “Take my yoke upon you.” We learn meekness by walking with the meek Savior.

When our natural reaction is pride, impatience, or retaliation, we can ask a better question: “Jesus, how would Your heart respond here?”

Talk About It

Which event in Jesus' life best shows you that meekness and strength can exist together?

Think About It

What would change in my reactions if I deliberately remembered that I am learning from Jesus?

Pray About It

Tell Jesus that you want to learn from Him. Ask Him to make your family's words and reactions more like His.
