“Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.”
Jesus does not begin with appearance. He begins with the heart.
In Scripture, the heart represents the inner life—our thoughts, motives, desires, loyalties, and choices. A pure heart is not merely a person who looks religious on the outside. It is a life becoming sincere, undivided, and clean before God.
That does not mean a pure-hearted person has never sinned. If purity required a flawless past, none of us could have hope. The good news is that God cleanses sinners who come honestly to Him.
Purity also means more than avoiding obvious wrongdoing. We can perform a good action for selfish reasons. We can say the right words while hiding bitterness. We can appear faithful while quietly giving our hearts to something else.
Jesus cares about what is happening beneath the surface.
That is both searching and encouraging. We do not have to maintain an image before Him. He already knows us completely, and He invites us to let Him cleanse what others cannot see.
Then comes the promise: “they shall see God.”
The clearer the heart becomes, the more clearly we recognize God's character and presence—and one day His people will see Him face to face.
Why do you think Jesus cares so much about what is happening inside us, not just what other people can see?

Ask God to cleanse your heart and make your family sincere before Him, not merely concerned with appearances.
