“For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.”
Jesus knows temptation, but He never gave His heart to sin.
He was misunderstood, rejected, insulted, pressured, and tempted. Yet His loyalty to the Father remained undivided.
That makes Jesus more than an example standing far above us. Hebrews says He is a sympathetic High Priest who understands our weakness.
We can come boldly to Him for mercy and grace.
When Jesus was insulted, He did not answer with deceit. When people tried to use Him for their own plans, He remained faithful to His Father's mission. When Satan offered Him shortcuts, He chose obedience.
His purity was not fragile. It endured real pressure.
That matters for us because purity of heart is not maintained by hiding from God when temptation or failure occurs. We come closer to Christ.
He knows the difference between temptation and cherished sin. He knows where we are weak. And He offers grace “to help in time of need.”
The pure heart we desire is ultimately a heart becoming like His.
How does knowing that Jesus was truly tempted help you trust Him when you are struggling?
Jesus is not only the standard of purity; He is also the Savior who gives grace to help us.
Thank Jesus that He understands temptation and remained faithful. Ask Him for grace to make your family's hearts more like His.
