“And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.”
Jesus' promise to the pure in heart reaches all the way to eternity: “they shall see God.”
Sin has distorted the way we see. It makes God's character seem suspicious, holiness seem restrictive, and selfishness seem attractive.
As God cleanses the heart, our vision begins to change. We recognize more clearly His goodness in Scripture, His mercy in the gospel, and His presence in ordinary life.
But the promise goes farther than spiritual perception now.
Revelation describes God's redeemed people seeing His face. The separation caused by sin is gone. God's people live openly in His presence.
First John connects that hope with transformation: “when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.”
The goal of purity is not merely to become respectable people. It is fellowship with God.
That changes how we think about holiness. God's commands are not arbitrary barriers keeping us from life. He is preparing us for life with Him.
Every time Christ cleanses a motive, redirects a desire, or teaches us to love what is good, He is preparing us to enjoy the presence of the One we were created to know.
Why is seeing God a greater promise than simply receiving a reward from God?

Then let each person name one thing about God's character they look forward to understanding more clearly.
Thank God for the promise that His people will one day see Him face to face. Ask Him to continue cleansing your hearts and preparing your family for His presence.
