“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”
Faithfulness begins before a marriage vow is ever broken.
It begins with the heart.
Proverbs tells us to guard the heart carefully because the direction of our lives flows from it. Jesus makes the same connection when He teaches that lustful looking is already a matter of unfaithfulness within.
For married people, faithfulness includes protecting the relationship from emotional as well as physical compromise. It means being thoughtful about private conversations, secrecy, flirtation, and relationships that begin taking intimacy away from one's spouse.
For those who are unmarried, the same principle teaches us to develop habits of purity, honesty, and respect now rather than imagining faithfulness begins only on a wedding day.
For every disciple, the heart belongs first to God.
We should therefore pay attention when we find ourselves hiding something because we know a spouse, parent, or trusted Christian would be concerned if they knew.
Secrecy can give temptation room to grow.
Jesus calls us into the light—not to shame us, but to make us whole. Faithfulness is built through thousands of small choices that protect what God has entrusted to us.
Why do small boundaries matter before anything obviously wrong has happened?
Think about one relationship or habit in your life. Is there a boundary that would help you be more faithful, transparent, and wise?
Ask God to guard your family's hearts and make faithfulness part of both your private choices and your public lives.
